Automotive Calibration Engineer
Reports to: Automotive Operations Manager Department: Automotive Operations Classification: Exempt Division: US Operations Date: October 2010 Job Summary: Lead automotive engine calibration development activities focused on multiple automotive applications. Develop and optimize gaseous fuel systems to meet emissions, fuel economy, drivability, power, torque, and warranty objectives. Essential Functions: - Lead automotive engine calibration development activities focused on multiple automotive OE applications.
- Coordinate, via interaction with the Project Engineer, Program Manager and the customer, IMPCO engine controls and calibration engineering activities.
- Provide technical input and interaction between engineering, service, sales & marketing and production.
- Provide input to planning and budget activities.
- Conduct system level dynamometer testing.
- Coordinate development actions with Project Management, Engine Engineering, Sales & Marketing and Manufacturing.

- Five to seven year’s emission calibration experience with gasoline and/or gaseous fuels systems.
- Advanced knowledge of engine operation principles, dynamometer testing, instrumentation and analysis.
- Technical leadership in a team environment.
- Working knowledge of Data Analysis Tools and Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of SAE J1979.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: This position performs some sedentary office work, and requires the ability to move throughout the building to interact with employees. This position may require non-traditional working hours either at IMPCO or at designated third party testing facilities. The position answers telephone calls, bends, reaches and pushes and pulls file drawers. This position uses a computer terminal to access, input and retrieve data. Finger dexterity may be required to operate a computer keyboard and calculator. Management reserves the right to change, rescind, add or delete the duties and responsibilities of positions within this job classification at any time. In addition to the above the Automotive Calibration Engineer must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive vehicles to test and confirm the calibration. The Engineer should have some hands on experience as well as experience with troubleshooting and resolving issues.
